The Pacific Pier, built out from the Moore Hotel north of the turnaround at Seaside, only lasted from 1904 through 1914. It was often damaged by storms and always being rebuilt.
After a particularly severe storm in 1914, it was decided to no longer maintain it. The Moore Hotel was replaced by the Hotel Seaside in about 1920, and it in turn was replaced by the Shiloh Inn in 1984.
