Overlooking Celilo Falls, with New Bridge - c. 1912

This view of Celilo Falls looking upstream shows the recently completed Columbia River Railroad Bridge in the background. Finished in 1912, it replaced an earlier ferry service. Like many Columbia Gorge photos of its era, it contrasts age-old geologic features with newer man-made structures. Patterson, based in Hood River, created this photo as part of a scenic stereoview series.
