Details

This is the Emanuele Accame, a steel vessel built in 1891 by the Continental Lead & Iron Company in Perusola, Italy. Sold and renamed at least four times between 1912 and 1922, she was "run down and sunk" by the steamer Chagres in 1935.

This highly detailed image of the ship and Portland Harbor is recreated from an original glass negative by photographer Howard C. Tibbitts.
