Details

Taken shortly after it opened in 1929, this photo shows Medford's new state-of-the-art airport, financed by a $120,000 bond issue passed by local citizens by a margin of 13 to 1. It replaced the earlier Newell Barber Field, considered to be the first field purchased in Oregon to be used as an airport. Everything was under one roof: a hanger with room for 16 small planes and four cabin planes, repair shops, waiting rooms, a restaurant, and pilots' quarters. In the 1990s the airport was renamed to Rogue Valley International - Medford Airport. -- This photo is printed by Alex Blendl Studio.
