This is an especially nice version of a classic view of Multnomah Falls, taken shortly after both the automobile bridge and pedestrian bridge were completed.
This is an especially nice version of a classic view of Multnomah Falls, taken shortly after both the automobile bridge and pedestrian bridge were completed. It is reproduced from a very clear larger print - at 11x14 inches one of the larger sizes sold by Benjamin Gifford.
On the back of the original print is written "This picture given to Mrs. Emma B. Vaughn by Miss Kate Buckingham". Kate Buckingham was a wealthy Chicagoan art collector who gave much of her collection to the Art Institute of Chicago, so her appreciation of Gifford's photo encourages us to take a closer look.
