Mt. Hood from Portland West Hills - c. 1896

Part of a series of town views of Portland created by photographer Herbert A. Hale, this view looks across the western end of downtown towards snow-covered Mt. Hood. We're looking east on Burnside Street at the left of the photo, and the large warehouse-type building is the Exposition Building, located at about Burnside and 16th. It was destroyed by fire in 1910.
