This crisp view of Mount Hood from the south was created by an unknown photographer in about 1895. Visible in the center near the top is Crater Rock, which tops out at 10,560 feet. To its right is Coalman Glacier, and to its right is Steel Cliff. Below Crater Rock and Coalman is Palmer Glacier.
Many decades later the Palmer Ski Lift would be built to the left of this glacier.
