Details
Part of a series of Portland views created by Hale, this scene looks east towards Mt Hood, over the growing industrial area in southeast Portland.
Taken from the Oregonian Building, a nine-story structure at 6th and Alder that was completed six years earlier in 1892.
The bridge at the lower right is the original Morrison Bridge, built in 1887. It was the Portland's first Willamette River bridge.
Visible across the river are the signs of many companies, including the Studebaker Carriage and Wagon Company, whose business would soon start to change.
