We are looking east across the historic plaza in Ashland, and have a good look at the back of "Pioneer Mike", the statue that was recently restored, and the drinking fountains that bring water to the public from the mineral waters of Lithia Springs.

There are actually two fountains, one in the base of Pioneer Mike and another to the right. Hotel Ashland was built as the Oregon Hotel in 1889. It survived until 1961 when it was demolished to make way for the current Wells Fargo Bank.
