This image of log rafts on the Willamette, above the Falls, gives us an idea of how many logs were taken downstream from forests in the upper Willamette Valley.
This location was a resting point, where the logs were reconfigured into smaller rafts that could fit through the locks. Below the locks they would be once again joined into larger rafts to continue their journey.
Note the workers in detail view 1, and a few buildings on the edge of early Willamette in detail view 2.
