As there is no longer a Main Street in Newport, we're assuming this view is along what is now known as SE Bay Blvd., perhaps near Fall Street, looking towards the mouth of the bay. In any event, it's a very early view. Note the steam and sailing ship anchored in the lower left corner, and shown in detail view 2.
