A group of visitors demonstrate appropriate mountain attire while visiting Cloud Cap Inn on the northeast flank of Mount Hood. Built in 1889, the inn is still in use, though not generally open to the public.
This photo shows some of the cables used to protect against the high winds at its 6000 foot elevation. The older woman in Detail View 1 is probably Sarah Langille, who managed the inn from 1891 through 1907. The man near her may be one of her sons, who worked at the inn as guides.
