Calcleeps, the word used by photographer Markham, is apparently a Native American term for the cradleboard. I'm not clear which tribal language it's from, but since most of Markham's studio photos were taken in The Dalles, the term may be Wasco.
Customers often bought both the happy and the sad photos to display side-by-side. The smaller sizes we offer lend themselves to this use.
