Asahel Curtis, brother of Edward S. Curtis, created many photos of Mt. Rainier, some of them hand-tinted like this one.
Asahel Curtis, brother of Edward S. Curtis, created many photos of Mt. Rainier, some of them hand-tinted like this one. He has captured a nicely-framed view of the glacier, which is actually on the southwest flank of the mountain, and is connected on its left to the larger Tahoma Glacier to the north.
Meltwater from the South Tahoma Glacier, which ends at about 5100 feet elevation, flows into the Nisqually River.
