This particular Salmon River (there are many with that name) drains the south side of Mt. Hood, and empties into the Sandy. Only 34 miles long, it is the only river in the lower 48 states that has its whole length designated as a National Wild and Scenic River.
Known for its steelhead, trout, and of course salmon, the river is also the home to deer and bear, one of which these hunters are likely pursuing.
