Washington's third lighthouse, the Cape Flattery light entered service in 1857, using a first-order lense. Located on Tatoosh Island, a half-mile off Cape Flattery on the Olympic Peninsula, the tower stands 65 feet high, and is 162 feet above sea level.
This photo was taken by Muybridge as part of his contract with the Lighthouse Board to photograph lighthouses along the west coast, from San Diego to Canada.
