While appearing candid, this image is part of a series of photos captured by Southern Pacific professional photographer Howard C. Tibbitts in his visit to southern Oregon in about 1908. Judge Henry L. Benson is the man on the right. A resident of Klamath Falls, from 1915 through 1921 he was on the Oregon Supreme Court.
I'm not sure who Mr. Curtiss is - if you know please let me know. In any event, this is a well-composed and evocative photograph.
