Details
Built in 1889 on Mount Hood's northeast shoulder, Cloud Cap Inn was reached by railroad from Hood River, and then a several hour stagecoach ride. It was designed by the same firm that designed the Forestry Building for the Lewis and Clark Exposition in 1905.
Mountain guide services departed from the Inn to climb Mt. Hood's northern slopes. The business cards visible sticking to the beams and ceiling are from climbers who successfully made it to the summit.
The woman on the right appears to be Sarah Langille, who managed the inn from 1891 through 1907.
