Hoisting Logs from Pond to Mill at Palmer - 1905

At the Palmer Mill uphill from Bridal Veil, logs from the pond were hoisted by a power conveyor to the second floor to be rough-cut into timbers as their first step towards becoming finished lumber. Afterward, the timbers were sent downhill by log flume to the waiting planing mill, which continued the process next to the railroad line along the Columbia River. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
