Taken in 1879 or 1880, this portrait of Joseph Lane, Oregon's first territorial governor, was made by Joseph Buchtel towards the end of his photography career, and 30 years after Lane was appointed governor in 1849.
Note the movement in Lane's hand and cane, as seen in detail view 2.
