Details

This type of steam-powered crosscut saw, powered by a steam donkey, was called a dragsaw because it cut only on the drag stroke. It was mainly used to cut cordwood to length, as it could not be used for falling and bucking that occurred further away from the steam donkey. Sometimes dragsaws had their own boilers, and later they utilized gasoline engines.
