Details
Shown here shortly before she died from tuberculosis in 1886, Clara Belle Duniway Stearns was the oldest child, and only daughter, of Oregon suffragette and author Abigail Scott Duniway.
The two had an often contentious relationship, though Clara helped her mother with her millinery business, her newspaper the New Northwest, and her suffrage campaigns.
They are buried together, as Abigail's ashes were scattered on Clara's grave.
