The Cascade Locks on the Columbia River, with the town of Cascade Locks in the background.
While not a waterfall, the Cascade Rapids proved a challenge to navigation until these locks were completed in 1898.
They were then submerged in 1938, replaced by the Bonneville Dam and Lock four miles downstream. However, the town of Cascade Locks lost no land when Lake Bonneville filled.
