Cascade Locks, Columbia River - 1920s

The Cascade Locks on the Columbia River, with the town of Cascade Locks in the background. While not a waterfall, the Cascade Rapids proved a challenge to navigation until these locks were completed in 1898. They were then submerged in 1938, replaced by the Bonneville Dam and Lock four miles downstream.
