In this stereoview panel, Frank J. Haynes captures the tranquility and majesty of Cape Horn, on the Washington side of the Columbia River. Cape Horn was named by by Charles Wilkes of the U.S. Exploring Expedition in 1841. In the nineteenth century, however, at least five locations along the Columbia were were called “Cape Horn". This is the site that has retained that name. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
