Details
This classic view shows a small grouping of farm buildings, including several houses. Probably an extended family lived here. Detail view 1 gives us a better look of some of the closer buildings, while detail view 2 reveals that many of the buildings in the distance are also agriculture-related. While Americans had been migrating to cities for decades, 1910 marked the peak for the number of people working on farms, at 11.6 million. Today there are about one-quarter that number, though they are supporting a vastly larger population. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
